Want to keep your elementary aged kiddo engaged in learning, discovering, and creating?
North Plains Public Library is offering a virtual online class each week on Zoom. We will explore our library's weekly summer themes with educational videos, articles, and "Take and Make" activities! LIVE ON ZOOM!
Week One: Friends and Neighbors! Exploring the World of Virtual Pen Pals! This class will give your kiddo the opportunity to sign up to be Virtual Pen Pals with another kiddo from the United States. We will discuss effective communication techniques and making new friends all while brushing up on our writing skills! We will also create the "Blossoming Friendship Tree" take and make.
Week Two: Nature! Backyard Camping 101. We will discuss appropriate camping gear, activities, camping songs and will create a nature log together. We will also create the "Nighttime Scene" library take and make.
Week Three: Home Sweet Home! We will watch some basic cooking skills videos, discuss different cooking techniques, and will create a virtual group recipe box. We will also create the "Deep Roots" library take and make.
Week Four: Music and Movement! Introduce your child to family yoga! Join us as a family for a fantastic yoga session! We will also create the "Sun Maker/Egg Shaker" library take and make.
Week Five: Silly Fun! We will end our summer sessions with a virtual engineering STEM program from The Museum of Natural History and Cultural History, University of Oregon. Through video "Take and Make" activity bags, families can explore artifacts designed by Oregon's first engineer's, visit with an archaeologist, and try out their own engineering skills.
Take and Makes for each session will be available for pick up at North Plains Public Library. We will complete each take and make the FOLLOWING week together.
