Writing coach and critique group leader Kendy Pearson will lead an online workshop about Introduction to Publication Writing in September and October. Come to one or both.
Registration is required (Meeting details will be emailed to registrants). Registration closes one hour before event.
September’s workshop will guide participants through the maze of the Story Arc—that journey your character embarks upon which makes your story thoroughly engaging. We’ll dissect beginnings, middles, and endings in a three-act structure. We’ll discuss important questions to ask yourself before you type that first word. Whether you’re a pantser or a plotter, if you want to include all the necessary elements of a fine story, you need an effective Story Arc.
October’s workshop will address components of the writing craft necessary in today’s publishing world. We will learn how tone, style, and attitude make up both the author’s voice and each character’s voice—a key to avoiding two-dimensional characters. Next we will discover how five functions of dialogue will change the way you write and draw your reader into the story with far less narrative than you ever thought possible.
