Cover Appeal: 0/5
This is where the book really lost points. I am not even kidding, if this book cover was better designed, or if the models didn’t look so freaking stupid, this book would’ve been read much sooner. Like what is he even doing? Why is she covering her belly awkwardly? Also why such an ugly dress? They should revamp the cover with more of a Hush, Hush theme, maybe gray covers with just her in a red dress for the pop of cover. I think if they redid the cover, the book would get way more sales.

Characters: 3/5
The major plot holes were due to the character building. I could not handle Anna, of all the characters. Her perfectness, goody two shoes, blahhhh personality. No one is that perfect, ‘cept for Jesus Christ, which she is not. The author should’ve made her more relate able. Not to mention how she feels about drugs or Kaidan’s attractiveness. Because the author makes sure to remind us EVERY 5 SECONDS.
Honorable mention in this category are her stupid adoptive mother.

Plot: 4/5
Even with its tendency to be predictable, I actually enjoyed blowing through this book, with the only real speed-bumps being the annoying character lack-of-flaws or unbelievable dialogue. I am looking forward to seeing the series unfold.
Another really really annoying thing was how Kaidan’s dad always brought up how Anna ‘smelt of virgin’. I know that she was probably supposed to smell holy or something but that is NOT what I envisioned EVERY TIME HE BROUGHT IT UP. UGGH.

Enjoyability: 4/5
With it all being said, I give the book a grudging 4. Between the gross cover and the shallow main character and lack of her growth throughout the book, it fell too short of a whole 5 stars.

KH Rating: 4/5
I know most of what I said was me just raging about what I didn’t like, but I would recommend it as an enjoyable book to be read with a grain of salt as far as Anna’s character development goes.

This was the perfect, cheese, teen, paranormal romance I needed right now. The biggest thing that bothered me about this book was that it didn't seem to have a true plot. Yes, a lot of it was about Anna finding out who/what she was and her on/off romance with Kaiden but still...I felt like the antagonist didn't exist and the only real conflict was people telling them they shouldn't be together.

The world is interesting but confusing. I still want to know more about it so I am totally going to read the rest of the series but I'm still reeling from what happened at the end and how this progresses since not much happened in this book. I did like it though, for what it is. A YA paranormal romance. It's good for what it is.

I was entranced by this book. It starts out with innocent Anna, hanging out with her best friend Jay and living with her loving adopted mother. We find out that Anna has enhanced senses; for example, she can hear and smell for a one-mile radius. One night, Jay takes her to a club where she has an, interesting, encounter with Kaiden. It leaves her shaken, and when she starts looking for answers, she gets pulled into a world she couldn't have perceived and learns that even in this new, scary, strange world, she may be the strangest of her kind.
The only thing I didn't like about this book was (Spoiler) after Kaiden says to stay away after Halloween, Anna's character seems to weaken and she gets really depressed. I thought it was annoying, but it didn't last too long.

Though the story keeps you spinning in circles at times, it is beyond worth the read. The whole angel vs. demons is really well done and the concept is really interesting; moving beyond the plain good vs. evil. There are a good number of surprises and all the characters are thorough and interesting in their own ways. As Anna falls in love with a certain guy (cough cough Kaiden) and becomes a bit obsessed.., I think most readers will as well. It's definitely worth the read for the characters, dialogue, romance, and adventure!!

Some parts were cheesy, but I was interested in the storyline and I do want to see what happens in the sequel. Worth reading if you are interested in a light romance type book.
