This picture book in four chapters about a brave chicken is a great choice for children who enjoy adventure stories. Bliss' illustrations add immensely to the drama of the different situations Louise finds herself in.

With each chapter of Louise's journey, she goes on a uniquely perilous (yet funny) adventure, filled with pirates and fortune tellers, only to return to the safety and comfort of her nest each time it gets overwhelming. This is one chicken with a great sense of direction! I would share this one as a read-aloud for K-1st grades rather than toddlers or preschoolers.

Gorgeous illustrations in a magnificent collection of short adventures lived by Louise the chicken.

Louise is a unique chicken. When she is bored, she sneaks out of her henhouse and goes on adventures. Sometimes she sails the seven seas, other times she joins a circus. But always, when the adventures are through, she returns back to her coup and tells her friend Monique what happened.

This is a lovely book by one of the most prolific and interesting children's authors out there.

The narrator voice is excellent. Fun book to listen to.

She was brave. She was fearless. She was feathered. She was a chicken, a not-so-chicken chicken. Her name? Louise.
