On September 26, 1937, The Shadow made its radio debut starring 22 year old Orson Welles. The Shadow's alter ego was Lamont Cranston, "wealthy man about town." With his companion, "the lovely Margo Lane" (played by Agnes Moorehead) the Shadow confronted mad scientists, corrupt politicians, evil doctors and a host of demented criminals. The series was one of the most popular in the history of radio, thrilling and chilling the airwaves until December 26, 1954.
