When her former writing student, young reporter Lily Samuels, vanishes while looking into her brother's supposed suicide, crime writer Lydia Strong and her husband, former FBI agent-turned-private detective Jeff Mark, launch an investigation to uncover the truth about Lily's disappearance. By the author of The Darkness Gathers.

McMillan Palgrave

Lydia Strong's old writing student, Lily, has been missing for weeks. Before her disappearance, Lily had left a strange phone message for Lydia, asking for her help. But until now, Lydia did not pay much attention to the message because Lily tended to call occasionally. But when she learns that Lily had been looking into her brother's suicide, Lydia becomes concerned. In this fourth of Lisa Miscione's intense and gripping thrillers, Lydia teams up with her husband, ex-FBI agent, p.i. Jeffrey Mark, to uncover the truth behind Lily's disappearance.

Blackwell North Amer
When Lydia Strong and Jeffrey Mark receive a late-night visit from an NYPD detective in the Missing Persons Unit, they are surprised to discover that one of Lydia's writing students from years before, Lily Samuels, a young crime-beat writer for the New York Post, has been missing for more than two weeks. She disappeared shortly after her brother, Mickey Samuels, committed suicide. Lily's friends recall her reluctance to accept his death as self-inflicted and last heard from her a week after she left for Riverdale, New York, where Mickey died.
Shortly before her disappearance, Lily had tried to get in touch with Lydia, asking her for help. But until Detective Stenopolis appeared on her doorstep, Lydia had not paid much attention to Lily's message. Now, in order to uncover the truth behind her disappearance and Mickey's death, Lydia and Jeffrey must follow the trail Lily left behind, starting in New York and leading to Florida, bringing them face-to-face with a mysterious organization called The New Day, which claims to offer solace to the lonely, the grief-stricken, the addicted - anyone who has nowhere left to turn.

A good mystery. I didn't particularly like the main character but with all the others, it was a pretty interesting book.
