An interesting read that depicts the life of a Mughal princess.

Although the descriptions and the storyline are very vivid, it definitely feels like a far fetched historical fiction novel. The freedoms and voice of the Indian Princess come across as more of a high ranking noble woman in England.

AMAZING READ!! This book sparked my love for Hinduism and makes me want to visit the Taj Mahal. The love stories in this book are so beautiful and complex. The character of Ian was my least favorite though. He was too happy and content with life, didn't show as much emotion and seemed see though, when the other characters didn't. I wish the all the children that the mother had were explained because you only knew of a few.

Beautifully written Shors captures us with Jahanara’s sense of duty and love for her family. I was actually surprised at how perceptive he was to the female’s point of view on how far a woman would go to protect and honor those she loves. This book although fiction hit home for me on many of my own beliefs and I enjoyed immensely going through the motions as Jahanara was faced with her most difficult decisions. I think this is the perfect book for a readers club.
