I love dogs. I love reading about dogs. I love reading books that tell the story from the dog’s perspective and so it’s no surprise that I love this series. Down Girl is the canine narrator of these books and she is a true dog through and through. Whether chasing squirrels, stealing doughnuts, driving the car, or just hanging out with her best friend, Sit, Down Girl sees the world exactly as you might imagine a dog sees it; she assumes food left on the table was meant for her, she knows the neighbor’s cat is trying to break into her yard, and she is certain that one kiss can solve any problem. Luckily she has a forgiving owner, known as ‘Rruff,’ who can see past Down Girl’s tendency to misbehave and into her loving heart. Down Girl may not always do what she’s supposed to but she always does what she thinks is right and, after all, she’s just a dog. You will laugh out loud reading about Down Girl and her many adventures. For anyone who loves dogs and has often wondered what, if anything, they are thinking!
