Over one hundred years have passed since Sir Arthur Conan Doyle intoduced his inimitable sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, to the world--and his popularity has never waned. This oversized commemorative volume contains the entire canon of Holmes adventures, both before and after his creator's attempt to dispatch him in print. Just as the character, Holmes, prevails and defies even death, these detective stories featuring him and Dr. Watson have withstood more than the test of time: they defined and changed the way modern crime writers approached detective fiction.

Sherlock Holmes is one of the most popular fictional characters ever, and The Complete Sherlock Holmes is a collection of every story he's been in. That includes the 4 novels and everyone of the short stories. These books became classics for a reason, and are all very entertaining to read. Sherlock Holmes is an interesting character and it's always fun to see him solving crimes in weird ways that nobody can see coming. His faithful sidekick, Watson, is also a good character and he has great chemistry and interactions with Sherlock. The other side characters are sometimes interesting, like Sherlock's brother but some can also be boring like Watson's wife. Obviously, since there are a bunch of stories put together in one book, there are some boring ones, but mostly the stories are fun and exciting. Having all these stories will be great for fans of Sherlock Holmes, but there is a lot of it to read. This is a good thing, since this book can keep you busy for a long amount of time, but if you took it from a library you'll have to renew it a few times and make a lot of time to read it since there is a lot to get through. Most of the cases are usually interesting enough and some have great twists, although some of those twists seem to come out of nowhere and you wouldn't be able to go back in the back and see clues to help you figure it out. But it still has some great mysteries and it's always really cool when Holmes and Watson solve the case nobody else can. These are some of the best mystery novels that there are and this book let's you read all of them, so anybody that has even heard of Sherlock Holmes should try to at least get halfway through this giant book.

A great read! I hated coming to the end. Didn't want to stop.

Although I'm not really a Sherlock Holmes fan I did enjoy reading some of the stories in this book. The writing is so concise and entertaining and the language is wonderful.

I love all Sherlock Holmes stories and books, this one is no exception. Except for a fact that there is more than 1000 pages of small print in this book and I think it gets very tiring trying to read it all. So when it was finally time to return this book (I renewed it as much as possible), I wasn't even half done! I was disappointed with myself because i did not finish it. And it was not because I didn't like the plot (belive me I am, what my friends call me, a Sherlock Holmes geek because i love the books and the movies so much and it's not even my first time reading the S. H. books), it is simply beacause of the print and the 1122 pages all in one book. The weight of this book also didn't allow me to carry it with me wherever i went (I like to read outside my home when i have the opportunity). Otherwise I think this is a great book, it is very descriptive and has some humor to it. The main character, Sherlock Holmes is very amusing at times as well, with his talent and sometimes wierd or better word, extraordinary ways of catching the bad guys. Bottom line, this is the BEST mystery book EVER and I belive that young people, teenagers should read this book and not just adults or seniors (I'm a teenager myself :) ). It can expand your vocabulary and the knowledge of English language.

This book is one of the best mystery stories I ever read and I think younger people should read it not just older people.

There are some clunkers in this volume, as anyone would expect given the sheer number of stories Conan Doyle wrote about The Master, even when he had grown heartily tired of him, but the work as a whole has no peer. Fiction writing at its best. Can be read again and again.
