Author lovingly revered & politically incorrect mocked the Cozy English mystery formula with almost fanboy glee. I could see why thief/ used book seller would be verboten to English style mansion host with overflowing library.

as in all Block's series a reader should best began with the first of the series. The bookseller/thief is not my favorite of his characters but he and his associates are all out of Block's mind.

So much banter between characters, and double talk too! I love the way its written! Definitely going to pick up another Bernie Rhodenbarr Mystery!

Block moves Bernie out of New York City and into an English Style bed and breakfast. You can almost taste the clotted cream!
