Wallander stories are excellent no matter who is acting. Yeah the Swedish Krister ones are best but the Kenneth ones are well done also. I liked them all. Read all the books too.

This is a brooding slow moving drama.
I had to look at the DVD case several times to remind myself the episodes
premiered in 2017. The drama is set in Sweden but takes place in South Africa.
The dialogue & settings look more like the 80's or even late 70's.
Wallander's cell phone is laughable. I felt distracted by these peculiarities.
I was watching the show in the background while I worked at home.
The inperceptable dialogue in the film was punctuated by loud barking dogs, gun fire,
and screaming...so I had to keep raising & lowering the volumn, lol!
The other Wallander series were much better with better dialogue.
I was disappointed & turned it off finally during the first 2nd episode.

Highly recommended if you love British/European police/detective mystery shows.
Loved the acting, the set, everything. I was glued to the screen during every episode!

Enjoy Kenneth Branagh ' s acting skill. However, although, this series was well done, I prefer the Swedish version. Makes more sense to watch a series filmed in Sweden to hear it spoken in Swedish ....more realistic than actors speaking English with British accents

Season 4 but where is Season 2, EPL?

"It was a dark and dreary night," which is what makes Wallander no delight. I do enjoy the cinematography; the different points of view are stunning and mesmerizing. That being said, I wish I hadn't watched this final installment because it was simply far too dark and depressing. I watch TV to escape and lighten-up. There is nothing I enjoy more than a good 'who-done-it'. Wallander's final adieu was more of an abduction of the viewer. I felt as if I was being held down in a puddle of dirty water while watching it.

Branagh as Wallander has been brilliant in this role. Here in Season 4 his portrayal of a tortured man facing the devastating truth of the frailty of his mind. He emotes his anguish so powerfully. Alas no more Kurt Wallander to look forward to.

This is some high quality foreign cinema, every episode put me to sleep. Probably great to watch if you are sick, whenever you pick it up it'll still be Wallander looking quiet, and great rolling shots of spooky blurry scenery, and nothing has happened.

I have enjoyed the Wallander series. Some really great camera shots!

andi1981's comment was a head-scratcher until finished watching the DVD. Well, an extended melancholy finale of the BBC version of Wallander, "The White Lion." The crimes in the three episodes were too familiar, too low key and too dull as the swan song for the character's die-hard fans. The best th'ing was the theme song "Nostalgia," see "Video."

So, looking out of the shining windows of this brand new hotel, one of many hundreds, it is not hard to see how tourism provides one in every 12 jobs in South Africa today.
The ANC has forgotten its principles, and we have forgotten our promise: the basic and fundamental promise that the wealth of this country... Municipal elections.
They need to see that I can face these battles. And I can win.
-If you're dead, you're no use to anyone.
I will not be silenced by a white man with a gun. You will catch this man, and I will speak. And I will win.
Do we make a difference? Maybe. Sometimes. Not much. What I do know is that we should never stop trying. We need to remember that every little counts.

Do you know where an elephant packs his clothes?
Well, an elephant packs his clothes in his trunk, of course.
Can people know about that in advance?
-No, but it's a small town, Kurt. They probably had some idea which way the wind was blowing.

You're 55. You've got a stressful job, you're a diabetic, and you've just been beaten up, so don't work yourself up.
-You going to say I'm not getting any younger?
Well, who is?
I hope she manages to hold on to the lightheartedness. Most children seem to lose it sooner or later. It's a rare thing, to be able to be happy. It's different nowadays.
Happiness is something that people seem to think is their right. They don't worry about starvation or having a roof over their head or being invaded, so they worry about whether they're happy or not. I suppose that's some kind of progress
My dad always painted the same thing.
-We all have our furrows to plough. I go for the same walk every day. Drink the same coffee, think the same thoughts. You come to an age like mine, you start to realize it's impossible to be anybody other than you have always been.

Despondency breaks off its course.
Anguish breaks off its course.
The vulture breaks off its flight.
The eager light streams out.
Even the ghosts take a draft.
And our paintings see daylight,
our red beasts of the ice age studios.
Everything begins to look around.
We walk in the sun in hundreds.
Each man is a half-open door,
leading to a room for everyone.
The endless ground under us.
The water is shining among the trees.
The lake is a window into the earth.
You and I both do similar things, Kurt. We see things, live through things that would horrify any normal person. We do it to protect our children.
Funny when you have kids. You start understanding your own parents. You realize, you know, eventually, you start... Being a parent is more or less a long process of letting go.
Everything. It's just moments now. They don't join up.
-What don't?
My memories. My life doesn't join up. I can't remember.
-Someone else will remember. Someone will remember for you.
