David Howard has put in eight long years at a big-time ad agency. When he hoped to land a Senior VP slot, all he got was a pat on the back and a transfer to New York. David talks his wife into quitting her job, sells the house, liquidates the stocks and bonds, and buys the largest Winnebago and they set out to live the ramblin' laid back life of the world's easiest Easy Riders.

Still funny 35 years later -- Albert Brooks is annoying but that's the gag and there were many funny bits -- it may resonate more for us oldsters who are of an age with the actors. In 1985, when this film was made, the $100,000 salary was probably like $500,000 now, and a $180,000 nest egg was probably the equivalent of $1 million today. I can understand that people could find the movie boring, but I enjoyed it very much!!

Really, really enjoyed this one! Just love Albert Brooks and anything he does is hilarious and sure to please although by comments you either love him or hate him. Julie Hagerty is always spot on and has perfect comic timing. Great to watch a comedy that was actually a CLEVER comedy for once and not strong language tied together by nudity or filthy plotlines. A bit predictable but still funny. Dropping out - if you weren't there you won't understand the lure of the time - I will say.

Boring... never got off the ground. Vegas was even old & tired. A few of the supporting characters were funny (casino boss, check-in desk). Tried too hard to be humorous, missed the mark for us. Suggest choose another DVD.

It is the dream of the overworked, underappreciated and middle-aged to quit their corporate jobs and see America in an RV. In the 80s some people could actually manage it. Not so anymore. So it is somewhat satisfying to watch this hapless couple go from happy travelers to desperate day laborers in quick order. Comedy stalwarts Albert Brooks with his deadpan delivery and Julie Haggerty as his clueless wife this is a must see for those who dream to chuck it all and see the world.

Loved this film when it came out. Did something similar but with a brother. & I was driving cross country to grad school. Played Born to Be Wild the whole drive. Wish we had the 145K. Less is better though & just as comical. No Winnebago either. We had a tent. & saw a lot of KOA's. Lost in America was our inspiration. See it! Enjoy

Since I love Albert Brooks, I really enjoyed him in this movie. The acting was hilarious and the ending pretty funny.
It's everybody's dream to give the finger to their job and lifestyle, but the actual fact can be a whole other story.

This movie was so stupid and poorly acted that I stopped watching it after about 20 minutes. The script was so predictable I knew what was coming.
