A dystopia with elements of Hamlet and Dickens featuring a cross-section of the best British actors. Best moments are Ian Richardson hooting like an owl and headmaster Stephen Fry courting Fiona Shaw under an arbor of phoney flowers. Feels like a send-up of English boarding schools and the still very much cherished class system. UK actors already notorious for their hideous teeth all sport even worse falsies for this production. Worth watching for this alone! Rapturously beautiful score and sets carefully mirror Peake's famous illustrations. Not everyone's genre but Peake fans will be mesmerized.
