Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month 2026
During the month of May, we celebrate the history and achievements of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI). The histories of these communities are deeply rooted in our nation since the arrival of Filipinos in 1587. The United States started recognizing AANHPI heritage in 1978. The weeklong recognition expanded to a month celebration and commemoration of the rich heritage in 1992.
